Katrina Kaif, the sizzling hot bollywood babe who plays the deglamourized character of Indu Pratap Singh in Prakash Jha’s upcoming flick ‘Rajneeti’ opposite Ranbir Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Ajay Devgan etc is facing opposition from the congress party in the national capital of Delhi for her resemblance to Sonia Gandhi.
So much so that director Prakash Jha was not allowed to hold a promotional event for the film in Delhi and the government denied permission on one or another ground for the same. Though there is no express opposition from the Congress party over the matter but sources in the Delhi government say that there was an unstated opposition from the government towards the flick.
Prakash Jha wanted to hold event at a public place like India Gate or Red Fort but the govt did not allow it for fear of antagonizing Sonia Gandhi or her congress party. The buzz in the industry is that despite of Prakash Jha’s denial that Katrina’s character was not based on Sonia Gandhi, the congress govt felt that Katrina had copied Sonia’s mannerism, wardrobe etc.
Katrina Kaif’s character also talks about the sacrifices that her family made for the masses in the past and wants them to vote for her party on that basis. Katrina’s character is also a widow in the film, which resembles to Sonia Gandhi and the sacrifices that Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi made for the nation.
Whatever may be the similarities but director Prakash Jha strongly refutes these allegations. In fact, he wants congress president to watch the film herself to clear the air once and for all. Let’s hope it happens soon and the issue is resolved amicably before its release date becomes too close for comfort.
