Shahrukh raises his voice for Pak players

None of the Pakistani players have been bought for Indian Premier League third season. But Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shahrukh Khan has raised his voice in support of the Pak players.

Shahrukh says, “They are the champions, they are wonderful but somewhere down the line there is an issue and we can't deny it. We are known to invite everyone. We should have. If there were any issues, they should have been put on board earlier. Everything can happen respectfully".

Shahrukh, who had earlier roped in Umar Gul and Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar in the first season, was the only one to speak about the fairness of the bidding process. But actress Preity Zinta, owner of Kings XI Punjab and Shilpa Shetty, owner of Rajasthan Royals feel that the process was free from any foul play.

Preity Zinta says, “A lot of Australian players were not taken in the auction but zeroed in on that particular thing. So the idea of sensationalising the country's conscience is handlelled by the media. It is very, very important for the media to react sensibly."

On the other hand, Shilpa Shetty feels, “Are we in a situation to provide security with certain political parties and lunatic fringes constantly threatening? I don't think that is something that we wanted to take the onus for. And we were the losers".

Shahrukh Khan: The Crater on the Moon!

The most amazing things can happen to our bollywood stars, especially Shahrukh Khan! The latest news pouring in is that ‘The Geographical Institute’ has named a crater on the Moon SRK Khan.

This institute is in charge of the nitty gritties of the Moon. This honour is bestowed on the super Star due to his immense contribution in the world of entertainment.

Sometime ago it was reported that some fan of Shahrukh had donated a piece of land on the moon as a token of his love and adulation for the actor. All this had created quite an excitement amongst his fans, going by the Moon fixation with Shahrukh, seems like he will be the King of the Moon as well.

The fact of the matter is that Shahrukh has gained such a vast fan following, not only nationally but internationally as well that no one really minds if he does become the owner of the lunar body as well. Now if the level of popularity does have any ultimate roof then maybe it would be this, that is the superiority onthe moon, and that is one thing that SRK has achieved with great élan.

Padma Bhushan for Aamir, Padma Shri for Sehwag

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan is understood to have been selected for the “Padma Bhushan” award on the occasion of 60th Republic Day.

Cricketer Virendra Sehwag and Badminton star Saina Nehwal have been chosen for the “Padma Shri” awards along with yesteryear Bollywood diva Rekha and actor Saif Ali Khan.

Highly-placed sources said that eminent theatre and film personality Johra Sehgal is also likely to be given “Padma Shri“.

44-year-old Aamir Khan, who made his directorial debut with the critically-acclaimed “Taare Zameen Par” in 2007, recently came out with “3 Idiots” that has become the highest-earning movie in Bollywood.

Aamir Khan's idols

Five successful films in a row, creating box office history, Aamir Khan is on top of the world.

Even with hits like Lagaan, Rang De Basanti, Taare Zamin Par, Ghazni and the latest 3 Idiots, he does not consider himself to be the greatest star of Bollwood. A highly gifted actor, Aamir speaks about his four idols in a rare interview.

Dilip Kumar

The epitome of intensity and dedication, Dilip Kumar will remain not only an idol but an actor every upcoming performer will look up to for learning the finer aspects of acting. In his 62 films he has shown amazing versatility. Dilip Kumar has been very selective about the characters he performed and never appeared ridiculous on screen. His sad eyes, low-key dialogue delivery and perfect usage of his right arm with each dialogue have been the hallmarks of his performance. Though popularly known as the tragedy king, he excelled in comedies like Kohinoor and Ram Aur Shyam. Dilip Kumar's performances in Andaz, Footpath, Devdas and Ganga Jumuna offer lessons in acting. I have learnt from him how to control myself in front of the camera and to say no to too many films.

Dev Anand

The epitome of romance and style, Dev Anand is one of my all-time favourites. His inimitable love scenes have influenced every actor of later generations, including me. His divine screen presence along with his haunting smile simply lit the silver screen in the 1950s, '60s and '70s. Provided he had a special script and sensitive director, he delivered unforgettable performances in Kala Pani, Bombai Ka Babu, Hum Dono and Guide. He had the rare ability to match with any heroine of his times, be it Geeta Bali, Waheeda Rehman, Saira Banu or Hema Malini. I consider it my privilege to have worked with him in Awwal Number, even though it's not a memorable film. He is the only icon who is carrying on in his own way, undaunted by a series of flops. His contribution to Indian cinema is undeniable and it's known that he introduced Guru Dutt, Vijay Anand and Zeenat Aman to films.

Raj Kapoor

I still don't understand why he is called a showman. There are many aspects of Raj Kapoor far beyond that of a showman. He started the trend of actor, director, producers, which was later followed by Guru Dutt, Manoj Kumar and many others. In popular films like Awara and Shree 420, he followed the Chaplinesque style. When he worked under other efficient directors he never interfered in their approach and gave haunting performances. The blank face of Raj Kapoor in Gopinath, Jaagte Raho, Phir Subha Hogi and Teesri Kasam remains matchless. Raj Kapoor is India's first intercontinental star and till date no one has come anywhere near him in this aspect. His sense of music was inborn. Two decades after his death he is still adored.

Shammi Kapoor

I have adored him since my childhood. My uncle Nasir Hussain, with whom Shammi Kapoor gave a series of hits, always pointed out to me each nuance of his performance, before enacting romantic scenes and song sequences. His sense of rhythm is unbeatable and the way he performed song sequences still remains a wonder for me. He mingled emotions, comedy and romance like no one else did, and was original in his action scenes. I will never forget Shammi Kapoor in Junglee, China Town, Professor, Teesri Manzil and Brahmachari.

Padma Lakshmi more desirable than Aishwarya Rai

Supermodel Padma Lakshmi ranks higher than Indian beauties Aishwarya Rai and Freida Pinto when it comes to grabbing the male attention.

In a most desirable women poll conducted by a portal, Aishwarya lingered on the 63rd spot and Freida took the 50th position but Padma Lakshmi grabbed the 15th spot.

“I am delighted that the readers of this portal have chosen to include me on their list. I am extremely flattered,” the website quoted Padma as saying.

The rankings of the top 99 women poll by askmen.com were decided after a six-week long voting period and six million votes.

Canadian actress Emmanuelle Chriqui clinched the first place. The top ten also included Beyonce Knowles (6th) and Spanish actress Penelope Cruz (7th). Hollywood hottie Megan Fox was just slightly ahead of Lakshmi at 11th spot.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: ‘Holi’ In The Dry Spella

What with the entire globe concerned with Global warming and the ultimate crisis of water that it will eventually lead to making all and sundry feeling high and dry! Reality has hit hard at all humans and bollywood stars and film folks are not spared with the fear either. Recently, it has been reported that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was supposed to be shooting for a song sequence on a holi day celebration for the film ‘Action Replay”.

According to sources, there were to be 500 extras and 150 dancers to accompany the actress for the song. There were supposed to be gallons of water to be used as it was supposed to be a holi based song which is a festival of colors where the modern version of celebrating it with water based colors was to be shot.

However, the director Vipul Shah seemed to realize the amount of water that would be wasted due to the song sequence. Especially, after the water crisis that Mumbai has gone through in the last decade or so it was very difficult for the director to go through with the original idea of having so much water going down the drain.

So, another very convenient and dry form of the song sequence has been scripted wherein the whole scene shall be enacted with dry colors. The original form of this festival had in deed begun with dry colors, wherein bright colors like fuchsia, yellow, green etc colors were used for the festivities. Thus, if each one who wishes to celebrate the festival pays heed to this form and makes it a festival of just dry colors then perhaps it would make it a celebration of joy and happiness along with saving of water.
