Karisma Kapoor (Hindi: करिश्मा कपूर, born 25 June 1974), often informally referred to as Lolo, is an Indian actress who appears in Bollywood films.Making her film debut in 1991, Kapoor went on to become one of the most popular actresses of her generation. During her career years, she has been part of many commercially and critically successful films, Raja Hindustani being the most notable of them, as it was her biggest commercial success, and won Kapoor her first Filmfare Best Actress Award. She won a Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award and a National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for Dil To Pagal Hai (1997). She surprised critics and audiences with her performances in art films such as Fiza (2000) and Zubeidaa (2001), for which she earned a Best Actress and Best Actress (Critics) awards at the Filmfare ceremony. In 2003, Kapoor took a break from cinema.

She is the granddaughter of actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor, great-granddaughter of actor Prithviraj Kapoor, sister of actress Kareena Kapoor and niece of actor Rishi Kapoor. studied at the Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai until grade six. CareerKapoor made her debut in the 1991 movie Prem Qaidi, which was a semi-hit. Although most of her multiple releases from 1992-1996 failed to do well at the box office, she had some success with films like Jigar (1992), Anari (1993), Raja Babu (1994), Coolie No. 1 (1995), Saajan Chale Sasural (1996) and Jeet (1996).In 1996, Kapoor played the female lead in Dharmesh Darshan's Raja Hindustani opposite Aamir Khan. The movie was the highest grossing film of the year and she won her first Filmfare Best Actress Award. The following year, she won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award and the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Yash Chopra's super-hit, Dil To Pagal Hai opposite Shahrukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit.Kapoor took a year break from films in 1998. David Dhawan's comedy Biwi No.1 opposite Salman Khan became the hit of the year. Karisma was engaged to Abhishek Bachchan. The engagement was announced in October 2002 on the 60th birthday of Abhishek's father, Amitabh Bachchan. Four months later in February 2003, they split up. On 29 September 2003, she married industrialist Sanjay Kapur, CEO of Sixt India. In typical Kapoor tradition, Karisma was married at the home of her grandfather (the late Raj Kapoor): R K Cottage. They opted for an hour-long Sikh wedding ceremony. The couple has one daughter named Samaira, who was born on 11 March 2005. After the birth of her daughter, there was considerable rift between her and her husband. The couple has subsequently patched-up. She gave birth to her second child, a baby boy Kiaan Raj Kapoor on 12 March 2010.

Penguin set to launch a book on ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’: Penguin is set to launch a book on Ruskin Bond’s short story ‘Suzanna’s Seven Husbands’, which Bollywood filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj has adapted into a movie and titled it ‘7 Khoon Maaf’.

‘Penguin will release the book Feb 19. This will help readers know our journey from the short story to the film,’ said Bharadwaj.

‘7 Khoon Maaf’ stars Priyanka Chopra as the protagonist, who kills her seven husbands.

Abhishek, who will celebrate his 35th birthday tomorrow began his career with J.P. Dutta’s ‘Refugee’ (2000). He then went on to give a string poorly received films, but his performances in ‘Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon’ (2003) and Mani Ratnam’s ‘Yuva’ (2004) proved his mettle as an actor.

Junior Akshay to act as Akshay's teenage version in Patiala House: There was no way director Nikhil Advani was going to compromise on casting for the boy who would play Bollywood star Akshay Kumar's teenage version in his upcoming film "Patiala House". He found the perfect junior Akshay in Usman Quereshi.

Advani was hunting for a boy to play 17-year-old Akshay, and Usman was on board on the first meeting itself because of his resemblance with the 43-year-old actor. In fact, the resemblance was so strong that the crew gave him the nickname Akki Junior, said a source.

"We were completely bowled over by the striking resemblance between the two - Akshay and Usman. And after the screen test, without a doubt we found our 17-year-old Akshay for 'Patiala House'. It is not easy to play a younger role of such a superstar but Usman has done a great job," said Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, the co-producer of the movie.

In fact, Akshay was quite surprised and excited to see Usman, and discovered that they shared a similar scar on their eyebrow. Akshay also said that Usman's body structure is quite similar to his own when he was 17.

Shahid Kapoor will be the world's first actor to fly the F-16 fighter

Shahid Kapoor will be the world's first actor to fly the F-16 fighter: Shahid Kapoor will be the first actor in the world to fly the F-16 IN Super Viper fighter plane. He will be participating in the Aero India 2011 show, in Bangalore, where he will fly the plane on February 11.

Uptill date, no actor has got a chance to sit in one of the fastest flying planes in the world.

A source revealed that the actor has been preparing for this for the last few months. "He's gone through rigorous training for the last one month and will continue to do so till his flying date. Apart from the training, there are a number of medical tests that need to be approved before he can actually sit in the cockpit.

Most of these tests are related to flying at a very high velocity and making sure the person doesn't suffer from motion sickness. Till now he's passed most of the medical tests and there are a couple more which will happen in the coming days."

Before Shahid gets into the cockpit he will run a flight simulation test which will be like flying the actual flight under the same conditions. He will then fly the plane at the Indian Air Force Station Yelahanka, as a part of the show which goes on air from February 9 to 13.

Other than Shahid, Ratan Tata has been the only other Indian to have got permission to fly the F16. Tata flew 20 minutes in a twin seat F-16 at the 2007 Aero India Show.

Incidentally, Shahid plays an Air Force pilot in his father Pankaj Kapoor's directorial debut Mausam, opposite Sonam Kapoor. As a part of his role, he's getting acquainted with the various aspects of fighter planes and also meeting air-force personnel to get in depth knowledge.

Sheetal Talwar producer of Mausam confirms, "Yes, Shahid will be flying the F 16. He will get the opportunity to feel the thrills and the major adrenaline rush that a pilot goes through during course of duty."
