Kareena Kapoor: the role in 'We Are Family' not like Julia Roberts

By this time it is well known that Dharma Production's latest offering We Are Family starring Kajol, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal is a Bollywood remake of Hollywood's Stepmom  that starred Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts. It is also quite clear that the stars have claimed time and again that the film is not a replica of the Hollywood blockbuster.

Recently, Kareena Kapoor has taken it upon herself to claim that her role of the stepmom is far removed from the same role that was essayed by Julia Roberts.

"There are no similarities whatsoever between Shreya, the character I play in We Are Family, and the role essayed by Julia Roberts in Stepmom. Of course, given the fact that We Are Family is an official adaptation of Stepmom, comparisons will be there but I have played this part the way I would have done it. In fact, besides the fact that both (the character played by Julia and Kareena) are career driven women there are no similarities," Kareena stated during promotions of the film.

Now, it is already common knowledge that each actor plays each role different with new flavour and zest, but is that enough for Kareena to claim that her role is completely different than Julia's? We will have to see to find out!

I have watched all of Julia's films and it's a big high to essay the same role that she did. I am inspired by her. I have always admired and tried to do the kind of woman-centric roles Julia essays like Erin Brockovich and Pretty Woman."

She continues, "I feel our personalities are also similar. She has a natural smile and the choices she makes, stand out." About being voted the Most Beautiful Woman in the country, she says, "Having perfect features doesn't mean beauty. Juila is so happy and fulfilled that it shows. I am like that too."
